"L.A. Times Grand Prix" Oct. 15-16, 1960 -- 1

Pete Vanlaw took these photos during the classic event at Riverside Raceway.
 

Jack Brabham drove the Briggs Cunningham owned Jaguar-entered E-Type Prototype E2A to 10th place. 
 
Pete Lovely in the legendary Ferrari 412MI.  Lovely drove the car in practice, then turned it over to Richie Ginther after Ginther's original ride, the Ferrari "hot rod" (Ferrari 625TRC #0672 with V12 power) suffered mechanical failure.

Ginther DNF'd in the race, but set a top speed record on the back straight, 173 mph.
