Surtees, the only man to win world championships in both Formula 1 cars and Grand Prix motorcycles, won the 1966 CanAm "L.A. Times Grand Prix" at Riverside.  He also won the CanAm series overall that year.
 
 

Surtees outraced and outlasted tough competition from Chaparral and McLaren to win this race.  Of course it helped that arch-rival Gurney dropped out after only one lap.
