A wrecked 550 Spyder was the basis for Patrick's super-light Special.  That and an RS60 engine made the car a contender in the under two-liter class at the "L.A. Times Grand Prix" held at Riverside on Oct. 15, 1961 and a threat for overall wins in west coast amateur events.

At Riverside Patrick qualified 6th in class but DNF'd in the race.
