Penske finished 4th in the "L.A. Times Grand Prix" at Riverside on Oct. 15, 1961.   Not yet a mogul, Penske was already a canny businessman and ran with "Telar" sponsorship.  The next year Penske returned to Riverside with his controversial single-seat "Zerex Special" and won the 1962 "L.A. Times Grand Prix".
