Tom Mittler of Three Rivers, MI, finished 26th in his 1962 Campbell Special.  This car was one of the first V8-powered mid-engined Specials and had a wild California history.

It was driven with successfully by Bob Harris in 1961-62, but was destroyed in a spectacular aerial accident at Santa Barbara on September 2, 1962.  Harris was injured but survived.

The car was rebuilt for 1963 and driven in California events by the fearless Jim Parkinson
