Tom Mittler of Three Rivers, MI, finished 26th in his 1962 Campbell Special.  This car was one of the first V8-powered mid-engined Specials and had a wild California history.

It was driven with some success by Bob Harris in 1961-62; but was destroyed in a spectacular aerial accident at Santa Barbara on September 2, 1962.  Harris was unhurt.

The car was rebuilt for 1963 and driven in California events by the fearless Jim Parkinson
