Hall won this race easily. Not surprising since he and the world-class Chaparral were facing Northern California regional opposition. The Candlestick Park organizers spent the money and did whatever else they needed to do to bring a crowd-drawing "Big league" entrant to these race events. In 1964 they brought Phil Hill in a Series 2 Ferrari GTO (Was it a 4-liter? TM) and for 1965 they convinced Hall to appear. This race was marred by the death of popular and talented NorCal driver Bart Martin. (Your webmaster would like to create a tribute page to Martin. Can anyone contribute photos and info?)
