The Northern California sports car racing season traditionally opened at Stockton in April.  For years an airport course was used.  In 1962, the event moved to the Port of Stockton and a narrow, tight street circuit featuring all 90 degree corners.

Chuck Sargent in Birdcage Maserati #2469 won the main event.
