| Mexican prodigy Ricardo
Rodriguez stunned Californians with his win in the event for modified
cars under 1500 cc.
He was 15 at the time and drove a Porsche 550RS. He went on to a sports car racing and Formula I career. |

Carroll Shelby climbs
out of John Edgar's Maserati 450S #4506 after crashing into the earthen
bank.
Shelby sustained a nasty facial gash in the incident. Steen Carlson passes in #137, a Mercedes-Benz 300-SL "Gullwing" coupe. |

| Course workers remove the damaged Maserati. Great tow truck! Shelby returned to Riverside with the 450S to win the SCCA National event held on November 17th. |
