MGA
From Rich: "I've got
a 1957 MGA (registered in 1959) that may have been raced in California
and in the Southwest in the 60’s. The car has “plugs” for a removable
roll bar, and there are several plaques on the dash from various events.
I’d like to see if anyone has any information on the car or on the driver.
(Kind of a longshot, since MGAs are so common.)"
 |
| "The car was registered
to Royce Clyde Derby with an address in Alhambra. It pretty much
looks like every other MGA in the world. (It came from the factory
in red and was repainted some time ago.)" |
 |
| "Some of the dash plaques
are: Tucson Championship Slalom 1968. Corvette So. Cal.
Championship Slalom November 3, 1968. PSCC (Pacific Sports Car Club??)
Slalom of the Pacific 2-18-68. These are probably gymkhanas – but,
who knows…maybe Mr. Derby also spent some time on a track." |
| Also from Rich:
"I stumbled across this
car on eBay (one of the eBaystores), and it looked like something some
of you you might be familiar with.
It was built in 1958 by Don
Miller (The seller says that Miller built two Formula III’s and three sports
racers. This would suggest that he’s a different Miller from the
Don Miller who is listed on the H-Mod Yahoo site as having built 42 cars.)
It has always been Crosley powered, and apparently hasn’t changed significantly
since new. (It looks a lot like a Stanguellini to me.) Is anyone
familiar with it? |
