Heuer finished 12th at the "L.A. Times Grand Prix" at Riverside on Oct. 15, 1961 after a run troubled by brake and transmission problems.  He'd qualified a fine 7th with a time of 2:05.6, .2 faster than Chuck Daigh in the other Scarab entered.
