"Taken at Torrey Pines, July 9/10 - 1955. John von Neumann
drove this Ferrari up to half way point during Sunday main and handed the
car over the Phil Hill. Hill was standing around the von Neumann
pit as all races in Europe were cancelled after the LeMans disaster.
Shelby won the race in the same Ferrari that Hill had used to finish second
in the 1954 Carrera Mexico -- here at Torrey, Hill finished in second place." |
