On Thursday afternoon downtown Carmel is the lunch destination for the "Tour d'Elegance".  Entrants from the ultra-prestigious Pebble Beach Concours drive their luxury super-cruisers from Pebble Beach out to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for a lap, then up and over the challenging Los Laureles Grade to Carmel Valley, and then down to Big Sur.

The cars  turn around in Big Sur and return up the coast.  The survivors assemble in Carmel for their catered lunch.  Thousands of spectators are treated to a free look at cars that are worth millions and would cost big $$$ to see at Sunday's Concours.

After lunch the cars return to Pebble Beach.

I don't get to the pits much, preferring to shoot photos of cars in motion out on the racetrack;  I do take the time to wander through every once in a while.
