REEVES' POV - COTATI - DAY

Reeves catches Rick braking for Turn 5.

Ahead, Rick masterfully powerslides the big Devin around Turn 5. 
 

EXT. MAIN STRAIGHT - DAY

Rick ands Reeves race down the long straight, engines at top RPM. 

Reeves' Testa Rossa pulls alongside Rick —— they trade challenging looks.

They pass Start/Finish at top speed.  Rick pulls ahead.
 

EXT. PIT LANE - DAY

Krause stops.  His crew raises the Maserati's hood and starts a frantic repair job.
 

EXT. TURN 1 - DAY

Reeves brakes deep.  He catches, then tries to pass Rick. 

Rick blocks him and wheels around the corner. 

Deftly controlling the Devin's Chevy V8 power, he outaccelerates Reeves up the next straight. 
 

REEVES' POV

He catches Rick braking for Turn 2, then follows him closely through the corner.  They blast up the short straight leading to Turn 3.

He tries to pass braking for Turn 3.  Again, Rick holds him off. 
 

RICK'S POV - THE ESSES

He rounds Turn 3, and accelerates into the cone-marked esses. Reeves’ Ferrari fills his mirror.

Steam billows from under the Devin's hood.  Coolant flies back and smears Rick's face shield. 

He slows, and steers off the racing line at Turn 4.

Reeves shoots past.
