Rawlins, of Balboa Island, CA,  was a non-starter in the race in his 3000cc. car.   Note no fog in this brilliantly-lit early morning practice session.  Last year the pre-war cars practiced in very damp conditions. 

Chasing Rawlins is 5th place finished Conrad Stevenson in his 2500cc. 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C-2500 SS.
