The second photo of this car had a clear number (#112) and made ID'ing the driver and year easy.  But is the car doing a "burnout" or has Cleye locked up the rear wheels under braking?

Interesting!!!  I looked on pg. 177 of Art Evans "Pebble Beach  Remembered" and found the results of the "Cypress Point Handicap" (Race 2).  Cleye is listed as a DNF because "Oil overflow from the breather caught fire".  Is this what we're seeing here: Neither a burnout nor a lockup -- but an underhood oil fire?
