Looking at the mixed field of production and modified cars, this must be
a practice session for one of Saturday's amateur events, with a few pros
getting in some extra laps for testing.

"In the original numerical start list
(not that one you can find in the race program) 225 starters are listed
and even their pits are mentioned. Behind Krause's D Type you see a Ferrari
500 TRC (s/n 0668 MDTR). This is Alan Markelson from New York City. Qualifying
took part on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Alan qualified 30th in
2:24.89, beating out the other Testa Rossas of Dr. Frank Becker and Gordon
Glyer." |
