The nose of von Neumann's Ferrari crunched the fuel tank area of Reventlow's Scarab in the first lap collision.  A fuel leak prompted a black flag after 7 laps.   (See below.)

After a quick fix, Bruce Kessler prepared to rejoin the race in Reventlow's place, but officials refused to allow the car to return to the course.  This caused Reventlow to lose his temper and engage in a heated confrontation with said officials.  To no avail.  As shown in this photo: crewmen push the disqualified car toward its pit.

Question:  Reventlow was black-flagged after 7 laps.  Did he rejoin the race and complete 2 more laps before being black-flagged again?  Race results show that the #3 car completed 9 laps. ?????
