Before he started driving Porsche Spyders for Otto Zipper Miles was already famous for driving the very quick MG-powered Specials that he built himself.
 

In this Jim Sitz photo (taken in Oct. 1955) we see Miles' intensity as he corners at Torrey Pines in his second MG Special, known as the "Flying Shingle".  The car earned its nickname for its low and flat appearance.
