George Amick -- Porter Mercedes-Corvette Special

This great car had a long and colorful history in Southern California racing.  Oval track racer Amick qualified 9th and DNF'd early with a broken driveshaft in the 1959 Examiner Grand Prix, held at Pomona on March 8, 1959.

(1-6-09)   From historian Ron Cummings:

"George Amick sat with us on our tower during Pomona practice.  He drove the hell out of the Porter car. The most agressive ride that car had until Bob Edmison raced it."
