Monise was a longtime competitor and frequent winner in the small-bore modified classes; first in this Lotus Mk.11, and most famously, in the mid-engined Lotus Mk.23.  In the later Lotus he repeatedly won main events over big-engined opposition.

At Santa Barbara, Monise finished an uncharacteristic 8th overall in the Under 2000cc. event and second to Chuck Schroeder in another Lotus Mk.11 in class "G-Modified".
