Building Larry's "Desert House" -- 4

With the footings and first slab poured, it was time to start on the walls.  We started back in the garage area, where our early, experimental, and more tentative efforts wouldn't show so obviously.

Me as bearded desert construction guy.

We pulled the forms off of this first section and realized that we should place the stones closer together for a better "look".

We also learned that we should "chip" the concrete around the stones to better highlight them in the wall.

The exterior wall complete to four feet.

A lot of work...  But wow!!!   What fun!!!

And healthy, too.  I've never been stronger & in better shape than when I was building forms and then shoveling concrete into them and carefully placing the many heavy stones.

In this era, a 94 lb bag of cement felt like a big fluffy marshmallow.
