| Bob Norton's photo of
Drake at Pomona in 1960.
He's driving Maserati Type 61 "Birdcage" #2452. Joe Lubin owned the car and it was the first "Birdcage" to appear on the West Coast. I saw Drake drive this Maserati at the first race I ever attended, Laguna Seca in June, 1960. He led the main event easily until mechanical problems slowed him. Ken Miles went on to win in Otto Zipper's Porsche RS60. |
